The 2025 Satellite Summit took place in Lima, Peru on May 16 2025. The meeting brought together stakeholders from across the region and beyond and focussed on the public policy landscape in Latin America and the Caribbean and how across research, prevention, awareness and care we make advances.

Virtual Dialogue: policy, advocacy and awareness
This dialgoue on 25 April 2025 brought together expert voices from across the Caribbean and diaspora to explore how to build policy momentum, raise public awareness, and drive system-level change in response to the Caribbean’s growing dementia burden. The meeting was chaired by Dr Ishtar Govia Founder & CEO of Amagi and Dr Horace Cox Acting Director of Surveillance, Disease Prevention and Control at the Caribbean Public Health Agency

Dementia Dialogue: Awareness and Understanding
The World Dementia Council dialogue took place on 21 February 2025. This diagloue was chaired by Dr Ana Luisa Sosa, National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Mexico, with opening presentations from Dr Daisy Acosta, Associate Professor at Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Urena, Dominican Republic, and Dr David Aguillon, University of Antioquia, Colombia.

Dementia Dialogue: Brain Health and Social Determinants
The World Dementia Council dialogue took place on 14 February 2025. This dialogue will be chaired by Dr Diana Matallana Pontifical Javeriana University, Colombia, with opening presentations from Professor Nilton Custodio Medical Director of the Peruvian Institute of Neurosciences, Peru and Dr Lucia Crivelli, Neuropsychology department at FLENI, Argentina.

Dementia Dialogue: Research and Clinical Trials
The World Dementia Council dialogue took place on 21 November 2024. This diagloue was chaired by Dr Claudia Duran-Anitoz of the Adolfo Ibáñez University Chile with opening presentations from Dr Gustavo Sevlever, Director of Education and Research of the Fleni Institute and Dr Sylvia Josephy Hernandez, Department of Neurology CCSS, Costa Rica.
Dementia represents a significant public health challenge for Latin America and the Caribbean. It is affecting a growing number of people, with the number of people living with dementia more than tripling by 2030, and places considerable, and growing, strain on healthcare systems and families.
The World Dementia Council is leading a project on dementia in Latin America and the Caribbean and the challenges and opportunities presented by disease modifying treatments. Over the last six months the Council has hosted a series of virtual high-level roundtables and an in-person WDC Satellite Summit 12 May 2025 in Lima, Peru this initiative will develop practical solutions, strength partnerships and advance advocacy. Chaired by professors Ricardo Allegri and Paulo Caramelli, the project aims to foster discussion and encourage collaborative solutions.
