2025 WDC satellite summit
The 2025 satellite summit will take place in South America in spring 2025. The Summit will challenge participants to think boldly and offer solutions from prevention, to research and care and ask how advocacy can help secure those advances. The Council will release further information on the event and the programme in November 2024. Check back for more information then.
Dementia represents a significant public health challenge for Latin America and the Caribbean. It is affecting a growing number of people, with the number of people living with dementia more than tripling by 2030, and places considerable, and growing, strain on healthcare systems and families. The World Dementia Council is organizing a series of high-level roundtables in late 2024/early 2025 to explore key policy areas. These virtual roundtables are a precursor to a high-level summit hosted by the World Dementia Council in South America in spring 2025. The 2025 WDC Satellite Summit will challenge participants to think boldly and offer solutions from prevention, to research and care and ask how advocacy can help secure those advances. The roundtables and summit will bring together leading experts from academia, industry, care, and advocacy to discuss the public policy challenge and develop recommendations for action. Chaired by professors Ricardo Allegri and Paulo Caramelli, the project aims to foster discussion and encourage collaborative solutions. Following the high level summit in spring 2025, a report bringing together the discussions and recommendations will be published.
