UK Science Minister speaks at WDC Summit
The UK Science Minister Lord Patrick Vallance gave the opening address at the 2025 World Dementia Council Summit held in London on 25 March. He spoke on the importance of innovation in science and getting science to patients to deliver change. He outlined the work of the UK government in supporting the dementia research ecosystem in the UK and his vision for life sciences.

2025 WDC Summit programme
The 2025 WDC summit focusses on Accelerating Innovation, Disrupting Thinking and Delivering Change. The meeting brings together politicians, policy makers, academics, industry, care providers, advocacte and others to address, in this era of change when there are the first treatments for Alzheimer's Disease, how we make progress. The meeting opens with remarks from the UK Science Minister and closes with an address from the UK Health Secretary.
Accelerating innovation, disrupting thinking and delivering change
The dementia field must deliver innovations faster. At the same time, health systems, governments, and communities must be better prepared to rapidly adapt and deploy these innovations. The 2025 WDC Summit brought together politicians, policymakers, academics, industry and advocates to share thinking and insight on how we make progress.
The Summit had a combination of plenary sessions and parallel sessions with opening remarks from the UK Science Minister Lord Patrick Vallance and closing remarks from the UK Health Minister Karin Smythe MP.
