The Council will hold a series of events focussed on the commitments made at the G8 at London dementia summit in 2013. The headline commitment was a disease modifying treatment by 2025. The programme will begin a virtual workshop for core participants.

UK Science Minister to speak at 2025 WDC Summit
Lord Patrick Vallance will open the 2025 World Dementia Summit. The meeting will begin with Lord Vallance, UK Minister for Science, who will give opening remarks and take questions.

Dr Joanne Pike becomes new WDC chair
Dr Joanne Pike, Alzheimer’s Association president and chief executive officer has been elected chair of the World Demenetia Council. Dr Pike replaced Professor Philip Scheltens who has served as chair of the Council for the last three years. In this leadership role, Dr Pike will advance the organisation’s global efforts to improve the lives of people affected by dementia. Dr Pike had previously served as vice chair of the WDC.
